John Edwards is set to marry Rielle Hunter, according to the National Enquirer. This news comes just a month after Edward’s estranged wife, Elizabeth died of breast cancer.

John Edwards allegedly had an affair with Rielle and even fathered a daughter with her. Frances Quinn, though he denied the whole thing for months. The news put paid to his presidential campaign in 2008.

Now the news of an impending marriage comes as a slight shocker. The other newspapers and the cyber news sites are a little skeptical of the reports as the National Enquirer had run a similar story of imminent nuptials last year which turned out to be false.

Although the same newspaper was the first one to break the story of the affair in 2007 and the child before the national media caught on.

Politico, a news outlet covering politics, reports that The Enquirer has in the past been both right and wrong on the Edwards-Hunter relationship.

Rielle recently opened up to GQ magazine about her relationship with John and their affair. “I feel comfortable talking now, because Johnny went public and made a statement admitting paternity,” she said in the interview “I didn’t feel like I could ever speak until he did that.”

She admits that she is still in love with him.

John Edwards has lost a lot both politically and personally with the affair, hopefully the couple will be able to raise their daughter peacefully with or without marriage.
