KEY POINTS

  • "Jurassic World 3" will bring back characters from 2015 movie
  • Omar Sy will reprise his role as Barry
  • There won't be another hybrid dinosaur in the next film

Two characters from the 2015 movie will be returning in “Jurassic World 3.” The film is already in the news for bringing back characters from the classic trilogy like Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Alan Grant (Sam Neill), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Omar Sy will be reprising his role as the velociraptor trainer Barry Sembene. The character was seen working alongside Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) in the 2015 flick, and he was one of the few who managed to escape the island alive.

It is not clear in what way Barry will play a role in the upcoming film. The character was missing in the sequel, which was about a team lead by Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) going back to the island in order to save the dinosaurs from an active volcano.

The other character from 2015 movie who will be back is Lowery Cruthers (Jake Johnson). The character was a sardonic control room operator who was ready to sacrifice himself to help others. He too managed to escape the dinosaur island, but was not seen in the sequel.

How will all these characters come together in “Jurassic World 3”? The plot of the movie is currently being kept under wraps, but director Colin Trevorrow previously teased that the film will not be about another hybrid dinosaur, Screen Rant reported. Trevorrow is currently writing the script with Emily Carmichael, and he has promised to take the franchise “back to basics,” with a renewed focus on “Paleontological, wild animal, true dinosaur nature of it all.”

As Trevorrow works on the script, the pre-production work is also in full swing. The director teased a video of the animatronics of a baby dinosaur on Twitter. The baby Triceratops was seen inside a cage in the video.

“Jurassic World 3” will be released on June 11, 2021.
