Henry Cavill, who plays the iconic superhero Superman, will still be a part of the highly-anticipated DC movie, “Justice League.” The catch? His character is already dead.

After Superman’s shocking death in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” many fans held out hope that the superhero will somehow be resurrected in the upcoming movie. After all, how can Superman be dead?

But the cast of “Justice League” - Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ezra Miller (Flash) and Ben Affleck (Batman) - would like fans to stop hoping that Superman is still alive, according to Polygon.

Cavill joked that “on the days that I went to visit [the] set, because I’m not in the movie,” he was really impressed by everyone’s team dynamic.

“Watching the team dynamic as characters is one of my favorite things about this movie,” Cavill said. “Because superheroes are all just reflections of the human psyche, human traits personified but made grander. I think these guys really nailed it with their interaction or their lack of interaction. These guys smashed it, knocked it out of the park.”

Sadly, his Superman is not part of the team. Miller then joked that: “Superman, who we hope is in this one, too.” Fisher added, “Superman is dead.”

“Henry looks great in dream sequences and as a corpse,” Miller quipped.

Affleck added that Superman probably would have survived the last movie if he only sported the mustache that Cavill had on in “Mission Impossible 6.”

“If Superman had had that porn mustache in the last movie, I think he would have won a lot quicker,” Affleck jokingly said.

Despite the cast’s jokes about Superman’s death, Cavill’s earlier statements about “Wonder Woman” only prove that Superman still has a future in the DCEU. Cavill raved about Gal Gadot’s solo film, and said that “Wonder Woman” is a worthy contender against the highly popular Marvel superhero films.

“We can start telling the stories in the way they need to be told. It is even better to come back from a mistake or stylistic error into the correct vein because it will make it seem that much stronger. Wonder Woman was the first step in the right direction,” he told The Rake.

Cavill added that now is the best time to have a female hero, and it’s nice that DCEU is gaining momentum because he would like to continue telling the story of Superman alongside Wonder Woman and the rest of their friends from the Justice League.

“Justice League” hits theaters Nov. 17, 2017.
