KEY POINTS

  • Kate Middleton has been abused and criticized by the media since joining the royal family
  • The Duchess of Cambridge's fans made the hashtag #HowMediaTreatsKate trend on Twitter
  • Kate Middleton never complained about the negative criticisms she received unlike Meghan Markle

Kate Middleton has reportedly received better treatments from the press and the media compared to her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. However, some royal fans debunked this claim.

On Twitter, they uploaded screenshots of articles where the Duchess of Cambridge was discussed in a negative light, making the hashtag How Media Treats Kate trend online.

Eight years ago, even President Donald Trump posted some nasty tweets directed at Prince William’s wife. After her nude photos surfaced online, the POTUS said that the Duchess of Cambridge is great but she shouldn’t be sunbathing without clothes on. He also said that the future queen only has herself to blame.

“Who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does this nude sunbathing thing. Come on Kate!” Trump wrote in a follow-up tweet.

“Please retweet this and #howmediatreatskate to show abuse Kate has faced, before marriage and after marriage from the media, they only write positive things about her now because they attack Meghan, but Kate faced it as well,” Twitter user @cambridge_stan wrote.

The same Twitter user uploaded a screenshot of an article wherein the headline claims that the Duchess of Cambridge has been murdered. Tabloids such as Globe, Life & Style, In Touch Weekly, and Star previously published cryptic stories about Middleton.

Brave Kate Loses Baby,” Globe headlined years ago. Obviously, this isn’t a factual story.

Kate Rushed To The Hospital,” Star headlined years ago. This didn’t happen either.

Meanwhile, some royal fans praised Middleton for not complaining despite all of the criticisms that she has received.

“All the nasty things they were sent her way… yet she never complained, her husband never whined and oh, no fake celebs ever tried to defend her. Brave woman with a steel will be and a lot of courage,” Twitter user @Alex_Vivarell said.

“And if attacking Meghan stops being profitable they will go right back to attacking Kate,” Twitter user @SeanSKnighton said.

“She faced it with grace and dignity… Murky acted like a child,” Twitter user @KathyBa29104534 said.
