Kate Middleton learned a heartbreaking lesson from Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex has been with the royal family for two decades already. She joined the Firm almost 12 years ahead of Middleton and this paved the way for the royal mom of three to learn from Sophie especially when it comes to her career choices.

According to royal author Marcia Moody in her 2013 book “Kate: A Biography,” Middleton learned a valuable lesson from Sophie when she was still working for clothing chain Jigsaw. This has something to do with her job choices.

“Kate didn’t have a vocational degree and so didn’t have one set job in mind that would be perfect of her,” Moody wrote.

“Many twenty-somethings with humanities degrees experiment with different careers, but she was criticised for seeming unsure of what she wanted to do and trying out a few different paths. She needed to be careful though – while she was in a relationship with William she couldn’t be seen to be using her royal connections to further her career, and so she had to choose well.”

Moody added that the Middletons had been accused of using their royal connection to boost their business. Sophie, Countess of Wessex experienced the same when she was still dating Prince Edward.

Sophie had her own PR company and was accused of using her royal connections in her business dealings. Four years after tying the knot with the Earl of Wessex, Sophie quit her job and decided to work as a full-time royal.

For the same reason, Middleton was treading lightly while trying out the fashion industry as a possible career. According to Vicky Ward in an article for Vanity Fair, Middleton received many job offers from Russian oligarchs and fashion designers who wanted to work with her. However, she declined their offers because she didn’t want to be accused of abusing her connections or being used.

In related news, Prince William and Middleton visited Paris in 2017. The royal couple joined the children’s rugby drill. However, according to one netizen, Middleton looked awkward while playing with the kids due to her dress and heels.
