Former “American Idol” winner Kris Allen suffered a broken wrist in a head-on collision on New Year’s Day.

A picture of Allen wearing a neck brace and a scared expression was posted on Twitter by the “Idol
winner’s mother, Kimberly Allen.

“From Kris: he's in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollision,” his mother wrote Tuesday night.

Kris Allen and his wife, high school sweetheart Katy, and their dog Zorro were riding in a Ford when they were struck head-on.

The “American Idol” Season 8 winner said he was thankful to the car company for building a vehicle that saved his life.

“Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe,” the singer wrote.

Allen was referring to his wife being pregnant, making his 2013 bittersweet so far.

“Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby.#gonnabeadaddy,” the “American Idol” winner wrote on his Twitter account, which has accumulated nearly 300,000 followers.

Allen suffered a broken wrist in the accident. The singer said the injury won’t be derailing his current tour. He is scheduled to play next at the Pickle Barrel Nightclub in Killington, Vermont, on Jan. 8, according to his Facebook page.

“Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the#OutAliveTour is still on,” Allen wrote on Twitter.

According to Allen’s mom, the singer was scheduled to have surgery Wednesday.

“Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus! They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow,” she wrote.
