Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis will be sidelined for at least a month with an injured right foot.

According to sources cited by the Associated Press, the severity of his injury remains under wraps and there is no specific timetable for when Davis can return.

It was The Athletic that first reported that the top pick of the 2012 NBA Draft would be out on an extended absence. This was later on confirmed by multiple media outlets.

Moreover, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham confirmed on Sunday, December 18 before their game against the Washington Wizards that there was no firm timetable on when the 6-foot-10 cager would return to action.

"The season is fairly early, and he just has to take care of his business, starting first and foremost with him getting back healthy," Ham said.

It was a huge blow for the Lakers considering Davis has been unraveling huge performances for the team before the injury.

He holds averages of 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, numbers that have inserted his name in NBA Most Valuable Player chatter.

Davis was injured in the first half of their game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, December 16.

The Illinois native did not return in the second half of that match.

"Injuries are a big part of our league and a part of major sports in general," Ham later added. "Unfortunately, he's had the injury history that he's had, but there's no time to cry over spilled milk."

Despite missing the services of the All-Star center, the Lakers still won over the reeling Wizards.

LeBron James led the way with 33 points and nine assists, while Lonnie Walker chipped in 21 markers.

However, it was a tie-breaking dunk by Thomas Bryant, who finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, that helped lift the Lakers over the Wizards.

James appeared to lose the ball near midcourt, but he regained possession and found Bryant underneath for a tiebreaking dunk with 7.1 seconds remaining.

Kyle Kuzma missed a three-pointer for Washington with 2.1 seconds left.
