Former Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom did an interview on the show, “The Doctors,” before he entered rehab last week. The star opened up about his demons, drug abuse and divorce from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Khloé Kardashian.

Odom, 37, almost died after he overdosed at a Nevada brothel October 2015. Dr. Travis Stork asked Odom what he remembered.

“Being in that damn brothel and thinking I was going to just rest a little bit,” Odom said. “I wasn’t in a good place mentally before that incident happened. Me and my wife at the time were going through some things. I was in a dark place.”

Odom was unresponsive for nearly a week after his overdose. He didn’t know what happened until he spoke to Kardashian. “I couldn’t even speak at the time. I couldn’t talk,” Odom said. “Nothing would come out of my mouth, so I was scared.”

A year later, Odom was positive place about his road to recovery. “I guess they say everything happens for a reason,” he said.

Kardashian first filed for divorce from Odom December 2013. She called off the divorce after Odom’s overdose to help take care of him. They both signed divorce papers in October; their divorce was finalized Friday.

Odom didn’t relapse, but he entered himself into rehab before the holidays so he would stay on the right path, an insider told Us Weekly Friday.

His stint on “The Doctors” is what prompted him to get treatment. “H e is dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle and being the best father he can be to his children,” the ex-NBA player’s rep told Us Weekly Friday. “Lamar asks that the public please respect his privacy at this time and truly appreciates the love and support of his family, friends and fans. He will talk about his journey in January on ‘The Doctors .’”

Kardashian has not responded to Odom’s recent rehab stay.
