Seth Meyers and wife Alexi Ashe are expecting their second child together.

Meyers announced Ashe’s pregnancy on Thursday, Nov. 23, during the Thanksgiving episode of his NBC talk show “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” “A couple years ago on this show, we announced that we were having [our first child] Ashe [Olson] and so I wanna take this opportunity now [to reveal that my] wife and I are expecting a second baby,” said Meyers who had his parents, Larry and Hillary, and brother, Josh, on the show for the very special announcement.

Hillary then revealed to the audience that Meyers was sobbing when he first told her the good news. “I get the phone call, and my Seth is sometimes a crier. He’s sobbing,” the host’s mom recalled. “I said, ‘What happened? Are you OK?’ And he said, ‘No, no it’s wonderful news, it’s wonderful news.’ I said, ‘What is it?’ And he said, ‘Well, we’re gonna have another baby. I said, ‘That’s fabulous — why are you crying?’ And he said, ‘Because for over a month I’ve had to pretend I don’t care what sex it is, but I do care, I want a little boy.’”

Meyers confirmed that he wants another son since welcoming Ashe Olson in March 2016. “I really wanted a brother for my son because I was so lucky to have one,” explained “Saturday Night Live” alum.

“They’ve always been the best of friends,” Hillary said of Meyers and Josh. “[They’re] two years apart and that’s exactly what Ashe and Albert are gonna be, right?”

While the name Albert suggests that Meyers and his wife are having a second son, the host made it clear that they have not decided on a name yet. But Meyers’ dad has an interesting explanation why he feels so strongly about the name Albert. “We’ve had five sheepdogs, and they’ve all been named Albert. And I really love the dog and I always wonder what it would sound like if it could talk,” Larry said. “So I figure, if they name the kid Albert, eventually he’ll start to talk and I’ll say, ‘Ah, yeah that’s it.’”

While Meyers is excited about the arrival of his baby no. 2, it seems that he have to work on being a better aide to his wife when it comes to taking care of a baby.

“I haven’t been great as far as being an assistant to my wife,” Meyers admitted during an appearance on the “Today” show a couple of months after his first child was born. “The baby will wake up a couple times in the middle of the night and then I’ve been adding a third wake-up because I have night terrors about where the baby is. So I’ve been waking up, grabbing my wife’s face, saying, ‘I don’t know where the baby is.’ Then I just go back to sleep.”

Apparently, his wife’s pregnancy is just one of the things Meyers is thankful for this year. On the same day he made the baby announcement, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association also announced that Meyers will be the host of the 2018 Golden Globes.

“With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year,” the organization's president, Meher Tatna, said in a statement.

The 75th Golden Globe Awards ceremony will take place on Jan. 7 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California and will be televised by NBC.
