Legend of Korra
Kuvira (Zelda Williams) and Bataar (Todd Haberkorn) were poised to take over Zaofu in episode 5 of "The Legend of Korra" Book 4. Nick

The Avatar is back! Korra (Janet Varney) returned to form in episode 4 of “The Legend of Korra” Book 4, but is she too late? Episode 5 of Book 4 was released Friday on Nick.com with Kuvira (Zelda Williams) arriving at Zaofu with her army ready to take over. Will Korra be able to stop her?

Here are three revelations from “The Legend of Korra” Book 4, episode 5:

1. Varrick’s Change of Heart

Varrick (John Michael Higgins) had been busy for Kuvira working on a way to weaponize the energy in spirit vines. But during an experiment he saw what the weapon would be capable of and no longer wanted any part of it. Unfortunately for him, Kuvira wasn’t giving him an option, threatening his life if he did not continue working on the experiment.

2. Bolin in the Middle

Bolin (P.J. Byrne) was at the center of episode 5. Kuvira, hoping that Su (Anne Heche) could be convinced to surrender the city without fighting, brought Bolin to their meeting as an ambassador. Bolin was stuck between Kuvira and Baatar Jr. (Todd Haberkorn) on one side and Su and Bataar Sr. (Jim Meskimen) on the other. But Bolin really started to doubt himself when Opal (Alyson Stoner) angrily revealed how Kuvira’s conquered towns are treated after she leaves, with the people forced to work and dissenters sent to “re-education” camps. Later, after Kuvira threatened Bolin about his loyalty, he snuck off and escaped the camp with Varrick and Varrick’s assistant Zhu Li (Stephanie Sheh). However, when Kuvira’s soldiers capture them, Zhu Li apologized and pledged her loyalty to the villain, telling her she was fed up with Varrick’s mistreatment. Is she really now loyal to Kuvira or does she have other motives?

3. Korra and Kuvira

Korra arrived in Zaofu in episode 5 and fans finally got the first face-to-face of the season between Korra and Kuvira, but there was no fighting yet. Instead, Korra went on behalf of Su to convince Kuvira to leave. Instead, Korra, not wanting conflict, was convinced by Kuvira to talk Su into surrender. Korra returned to Zaofu, though, to find that Su had left to sneak into Kuvira’s camp for a surprise attack! It looks like episode 6 might get a little hairy.
