The 20-year-old then went to discuss that the drug should be legalized, and what happened next shocked the entire courtroom.

Video surveillance captured Boston calmly reaching into his jacket pocket and pulled out a joint. He then placed it in his mouth, lit it with a match and took multiple puffs, said ABC News.

Security intervened and took Boston into custody after the distinguishable odor of the lit substance permeated the Wilson County Courthouse.

Wilson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lieutenant Scott Moore told ABC News that Boston said something about “the people deserve better” before he was subdued.

Moore added that it was the first time that he has seen something like what Boston did in his 20 years of service.

Boston will be charged with disorderly conduct and simple possession of marijuana, alongside a $3,000 bond.

He will also have to serve 10 days at Wilson County Jail after Judge Barry held him in contempt of the court, said ABC News, citing online jail records.
