Chinese artist, Liu Bolin, is known as the Vanishing Arist. He takes photographs of himself fully blended in with a background behind him. His act of being invisible by means of optical illusions is a form of political protest and his way of hiding from the authorities.

The artist has composed many installations in the past six years in a series called Hiding in the City. In August, he posed in front of plastic bottles in an artwork called Plasticizer. He also hid alongside the famous bull statue in New York in June. In April, he stood in front of a staircase in the Grand Palais in Paris. Most recently, Liu posted in a supermarket in Beijing where he blended in with the vegetable aisle on Nov. 10, 2011.
