Lori Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, have been continuously looked at in recent weeks after police found the remains of Vallow's children, Tylee and JJ, buried on Daybell's Idaho property. Following the discovery, he was then taken into custody and charged with two counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, which are felony charges. Now, as Daybell readies for his upcoming jury trial, those who knew him prior to Tylee and JJ's disappearance are discussing the couple's odd behavior.

According to Daily Mail, Daybell, who has been described as "a prolific Doomsday author, alleged cult leader and former grave digger," had come to believe that Vallow's children were "possessed by evil spirits." Furthermore, friends stated that both he and Vallow had seemingly "become consumed by what they thought were visions from God" and were members of "a cult-like offshoot of the Mormon church called Avow."

Charlene Campbell, who once attended the same church as Daybell, also revealed that the couple believed an earthquake would hit Utah and distract people from the disappearance of the children.

"Chad and Lori were so convinced of his revelations, they believed there was going to be a massive earthquake and it was going to wipe out Salt Lake City. The whole Wasatch Front [northern and central Utah]," Campbell told Daily Mail.

Continuing, Campbell stated that they had also been "convinced they would not have to deal with the consequences because the fallout of that earthquake would be so monumental, all the way into Idaho." This, she said, would've been "such a huge distraction, no one would know where they buried the kids."

This is not the first time that his actions have been addressed in recent weeks. Previously, a former neighbor had discussed his "strange" behavior and Melanie Gibb, a former friend of the couple, had stated that he had "opened the doors of darkness."

As for Vallow herself, newly-released police body cam footage that featured Charles Vallow, her late ex-husband, discussing her strange behavior was revealed as well. On the morning of Jan. 31, 2019, he can be seen speaking with law enforcement as he conveys his concern about his then-wife.

"I never thought she would do anything like this, but she’s just lost touch with reality," he said, adding, "She’s unhinged. It scares the crap out of me." The full video can be seen on EastIdahoNews.com.

As for where Daybell's case currently stands, he has since pleaded not guilty after learning that his bail had been set at $1M. He is expected to return to court on July 1.
