In a bizarre incident, a man bit a snake into pieces for crossing his path when he was riding his bike. The incident took place in the southern Indian state of Karnataka on Tuesday.

A video circulated on social media showing the man wrapping the snake around its neck before biting the reptile.

"How dare you block my path," the man was heard shouting in the video. The man was reportedly returning home after buying liquor bottles when he ran over the snake. Local media reported that the man was under the influence when the incident took place.

The man wrapped the snake around his neck and continued to ride for some distance before he stopped in the middle of the road and began to bite the reptile as passersby looked at him. Some people who were at the scene filmed and photographed the incident.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after they were alerted about the incident. The 38-year-old man reportedly told police that he was not aware that the snake was venomous. When police arrived the snake had died by then.

"The snake has troubled me earlier. I was angry as it came under the wheels this morning too," the man told local media the Times of India, adding that he did not visit any doctor after the incident.

In an incident that took place last year, a 70-year-old man bit a snake in a revenge act for the reptile biting him. The incident took place in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Parvat Gala Baria was bitten by the reptile while he was working on his field. In a fit of rage, Baria bit it back, killing the reptile.

"Parvat Gala Baria was standing near a spot where maize was being loaded from a field onto a truck. A snake slithered out and while others there ran away, he continued to stand claiming he had caught snakes earlier," a village head told local television station NDTV. "He grabbed the snake which retaliated by biting him on the hands and face. However, Parvat bit back and killed the snake too."

Both the man and the snake died in the incident.

The man’s daughter-in-law told local media that a relative who witnessed the incident took the snake and burnt it before rushing Baria to a local hospital along with the dead reptile’s remains. Baria died from the venom injected into him by the reptile.
