A man in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana who was high on drugs attempted to enter his neighbor's residence this week after a "big snake" told him to do so, police documents showed.

Police were responding to a report of an attempted unauthorized entry in a residence located along Cypress Street at around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday when they spotted 52-year-old Jessie Terry and one of his female neighbors, The Smoking Gun reported, citing an affidavit by the West Monroe Police Department.

The neighbor told the responding policeman, identified as officer M. Townsend, that Terry "attempted to open the backdoor to her apartment," according to the police document.

After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Terry revealed he had "smoked crack within the last hour," Townsend wrote in the affidavit. Additionally, Terry explained that "a big snake told him to open the victim's door and go inside."

Police did not confirm if Terry was under the influence of any drugs. No further details regarding the reptile Terry mentioned, such as any confirmation of its existence, were disclosed.

Terry was booked into the local jail on one felony count of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and one misdemeanor count of disturbing the peace. His criminal history was lengthy, according to Townsend's affidavit.

A similar incident happened to an Idaho man back in March when he encountered a stranger who was high on drugs inside his closet.

Deputies of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 2500 block of Ammon Road in the city of Idaho Falls on March 17 after the homeowner came home at around 9 a.m. and found 20-year-old Rene Arismendi Jr. inside his closet.

Arismendi told the homeowner that he was hiding from "people who were trying to kill him" upon being found. He then told responding deputies that he was staying with friends at a nearby Airbnb and believed they would harm him.

Police said Arismendi's story did not make sense and that he appeared to be paranoid and under the influence.

Authorities discovered over 40 pills of prescription medications not prescribed to Arismendi inside his bag. They also found white residue in the bag, which he claimed held methamphetamine he had smoked earlier with a friend.

Police were later called back to the home after a 4-year-old child found a black pouch stuffed in a couch cushion that contained around 15 grams of methamphetamine.

Arismendi pleaded guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance and was placed on four years of probation. Misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a drug without a prescription were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
