Marvel might be "winding down" its television department. A report released Tuesday suggests Marvel Television will be closing up shop as a number of changes take place at Marvel Studios.

A source told Variety that Marvel is looking to let go of a number of employees "in the near future" at its television division. Due to the transition, Marvel Television will reportedly no longer develop any new shows besides the ones in production. The only shows that would reportedly not be affected are the Hulu shows “Helstrom” and “The Runaways,” which is about to air its final season.

The streamer is also developing a couple of Marvel animated shows including “Hit Monkey,” “Howard The Duck,” “Tigra & Dazzler,” and “M.O.D.O.K.” All four animated shows will also be crossing over in the event series “The Offenders.” Marvel’s other show “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will bow out with its final season airing next year.

The news comes as Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are looking to create some high-budget TV shows based on MCU characters for Disney+. The new streaming platform will be working on shows focusing on characters like Hawkeye, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier as well as Loki and Scarlett Witch. Other shows based on Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk are also in development.

After the transition, it is speculated that the TV head Jeph Loeb will be vacating his position. Multiple other executives in the department may be replaced during the move. Karim Zreik, the senior VP of current programming and production, as well as his team, would be migrating to Marvel Studios as a result of these changes taking place. This would also affect anyone outside of Zreik’s team like the Disney Parks department, as Brian Crosby of Marvel Themed Entertainment is said to be moving to another position after the merger.

This move doesn’t mean that Marvel Television wouldn’t exist. This only proves that Marvel is creating more focus on integrating their TV shows with the MCU films since neither was able to do so when they were two separate divisions.
