McDonald’s (MCD) is bringing the McRib nationwide this fall after last serving up the saucy sandwich back in 2020.

The McRib will make its debut at participating McDonald’s restaurants beginning Nov. 1 for a limited time.

The arrival of the sandwich will mark the 40th anniversary of the McRib. McDonald’s first launched the sandwich back in 1981 in Kansas City, Kansas, for a motion picture promotion.

“In the 80s, the masterminds behind McDonald's food innovation had a truly unique idea: an undeniably delicious sandwich that could be enjoyed during the colder seasons,” Mike Bullington, senior archives manager at McDonald's, said in a statement.

“Whether you're a McRib loyalist or first timer, there is no denying that the McRib is one of the most iconic sandwiches of the last four decades and we have thousands of emails and tweets from fans to prove it,” he added.

The McRib features a seasoned boneless pork patty that is covered in BBQ sauce and topped with slivered onions and dill pickles. It is served on a homestyle bun.

McDonald’s most recently brought back the McRib in November 2020, where it gave away 10,000 free sandwiches in conjunction with “No-shave November” for customers that shaved off the beards they grew during the month as part of a charity fundraiser.

While there is no word if McDonald’s will again give away free McRibs, the fast-food chain has been particularly active as of late, introducing a flurry of celebrity-endorsed combo meals with rapper Travis Scott, reggaeton singer J Balvin, Hip hop artist Saweetie, and K Pop group BTS.

The combo meals were followed by a McDonald’s-inspired merchandise collection with each celebrity, except in the case of J Balvin, whose line was pulled due to production issues.

As of Monday at 10:55 a.m. EST, shares of McDonald's were trading at $243.28, down $1 or 0.41%.
