Thousands of Twitter users were outraged at the way a McKinney, Texas, police officer conducted himself when authorities crashed a pool party Friday. But it wasn’t just netizens. Some celebrities also were disturbed by Cpl. Eric Casebolt, the arresting officer, pulling his gun on the unarmed teens.

Pop star Katy Perry said she was “disgusted” and she begged America to “wake up”:

Shonda Rhimes, the writer and creator of hit shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” responded at length to the video. “When will a group of kids of color together stop being seen as a gang/mob and start being seen as Americans. #TakeYourHandsOffOurKids,” she wrote in one post. “My kids didn't wanna get out of pool today. Anyone think best way 2 handle is grab 'em by throat, slam 'em to ground & cuff 'em? Hell no,” she said in another.

"Selma" director Ava Duvernay also had a message to share:

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams simply wrote about an “overseer” in reference to McKinney:

“Gossip Girl” actor Penn Badgley said he was “floored”:

“The Flash” actress Candice Patton said she was “sad and angry”:

“Empire” star Jussie Smollett added the McKinney incident should not be a surprise.

After the incident, Casebolt was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. Officers were called to the pool party after there was a “disturbance involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, [refused] to leave," a statement from the department said.
