Mike Shinoda, rapper and composer of Linkin Park and Fort Minor fame, will be scoring the soundtrack for the upcoming military shooter "Medal of Honor: Warfighter," Electronic Arts announced on Thursday in a press release.

The band's new song "Castle of Glass," from their latest album "Living Things," will also feature in-game footage from "Warfighter" in its official music video, the band said in a comment.

This partnership, announced just days after 2K Games announced a partnership with Jay-Z as an executive producer for "NBA 2K13" and Activision revealed that Trent Reznor would be playing a similar role to Linkin Park as a composer for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," is further sign of the expanding relationship between videogames and music as the two industries continue to overlap. It is also not the first time that Linkin Park itself has contributed work to videogames, or even "Medal of Honor." For 2010's release of "Medal of Honor," EA used two of the band's recent songs-"The New Divide" and "The Catalyst" in trailers promoting the game. The official music video for "The Catalyst," which was directed by the band's DJ Joe Hahn, featured both in-game footage and live-action scenes emulating the "Medal of Honor" wartime aesthetic.

Mike Shinoda, who also raps under the moniker Fort Minor and is credited for writing the majority of Linkin Park's songs, also scored an iPhone game modeled around the band, "Linkin Park 8-bit Revolution!"

"Linkin Park's involvement with the 2010 reboot of Medal of Honor was a hugely positive experience for all of us," Shinoda said in EA's statement. "The opportunity to take this creative collaboration several steps further was something that we knew we had to be a part of."

Medal of Honor executive producer Greg Goodrich added: "Linkin Park has always shown a great deal of respect and gratitude for our servicemen and women, many of whom are fans of their music.

"Partnering with them for the Medal of Honor Warfighter soundtrack and the Castle of Glass music video is a natural fit for us. We have shared values and respect for these heroes from many different nations - and their families - who serve on our behalf around the world."
