Meghan Markle allegedly gave Kate Middleton a knife as Christmas present.

In an interview with “MSNBC Live” last Saturday, Victoria Mather, identified as “Vanity Fair’s royals watcher,” shared her thoughts on why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from their royal roles. According to her, it was because Markle did not want to be “second best” to her sister-in-law who is bound to be the future queen.

“I don't think Meghan Markle wanted to spend the rest of her life looking at Kate Middleton's back as she sat in the second row to the future queen. I don't think she wanted - she didn't want to be second best,” Mather said.

Mather also mentioned the claims that Markle allegedly gave Middleton a “knife for Christmas.”

“I do hear that she gave Kate a knife for Christmas," said Mather "Which is quite something, isn't it?"

Host Lindsey Reiser ended the interview abruptly after Mather disparaged the Duchess of Sussex saying that she was only five clicks up from trailer trash and was disrespecting the Queen, who is the most respected woman in the world. Reiser also remarked that the network had not verified the claim about Markle gifting Middleton a knife.

A clip of the interview was shared on Twitter and it received mixed reactions from the social media users. Many agreed with Mather while some were happy that Prince Harry decided to take his own family away from the royals.

“Hahahahaha! i love her statement! whoever disrespect the Queen dserve no respect! the woman is pro QE. the old monarch does not deserve nasty treatment from the Sussex,” @IAmNoOne024 commented.

On Monday, Prince Harry and Markle joined the royal family for the Commonwealth service. Prince William and Kate Middleton were accused of snubbing the Sussexes because they barely acknowledged the couple who stepped back from their royal roles in January.

Meanwhile, body language expert Bianca Cobb said that Prince Harry looked a little uneasy during the outing while his wife was more relaxed. Meanwhile, she also noted that Middleton didn’t acknowledge the two when she took her seat.
