Meghan Markle did a touching gesture in Bristol just like what Princess Diana used to do.

On Friday, the Duchess of Sussex endured the cold weather when she decided to not wear gloves while meeting some of her supporters. Eleri Lynn, the curator of an exhibit on Princess Diana’s style, told People that Markle may have channeled the late Princess of Wales.

“She abandoned the royal protocol of wearing gloves because she liked to hold hands when visiting people or shake hands and have direct contact,” she said.

It appears as though Markle followed suit when she opted to not wear gloves. In fact, she even apologized to some of the people she shook hands with because her hands were cold.

A 3-year-old fan named Ocean John noticed how cold Markle’s hand was, and the Duchess thanked the youngster for warming it up.

“Ballerina Ocean, I think you are going to be everyone’s favorite person of the day,” Markle gushed.

Meanwhile, not wearing gloves was not the only thing that Princess Diana refused to do when she was still alive. On multiple occasions, she abandoned wearing hats because she said that wearing the headpiece makes it impossible for her to hug children.

And when meeting or visiting children, the mom of two made sure to wear brightly-colored clothing.

“When she was visiting hospitals, for example, she would wear cheerful clothes that would convey warmth and often chunky jewelry so that children could come and play with them,” Lynn explained.

And throughout the years, Princess Diana’s style changed. During the first few years of her marriage, Princess Diana was fond of wearing boxy cuts, tweed, and pale colors. But in the 90s and following her separation from Prince Charles, her fashion became pared back and simplified.

Princess Diana’s close friends revealed that she wanted to be known as a workhorse and not as a clothes horse after the fall out of her marriage. Princess Diana knew that in order for people to focus on her work, she needed to tone down her daytime look.
