Meghan Markle may be making the same mistake as Princess Diana with her recent actions, according to one former royal aide.

Patrick Jephson, Princess Diana’s former private secretary, recently said that the Duchess of Sussex is making the wrong move like her late mother-in-law once did. Markle has just returned from New York where she celebrated her baby shower with some of her closest pals.

The former "Suits" star is now a royal, but some criticisms against the pregnant duchess pointed out that she doesn’t seem to know the difference between being a celebrity and a royal. When Markle flew to the Big Apple, she made a buzz, which resulted in unintended consequences.

Jephson said in an article for Daily Mail that even if the celebration was privately funded, the lavish baby shower and Markle’s partying were still “pretty unedifying,” not just for its excess, but for its “calculated recklessness.”

The former aide said he feels that Markle is assembling an array of PR firepower. He suspects that the anxious courtiers are now pondering about what Markle can do with her in-laws if they incur her displeasure.

“The apparent decision to keep those men in suits in the dark about this private PR initiative will certainly add to their anxiety and cause them irritation. I should know: Harry’s mother did it to me, especially her ill-judged Panorama interview in 1995,” Jephson wrote.

A few weeks ago, Markle’s friends, who chose to remain anonymous, defended the duchess from her critics and family members who continue to air their dirty laundry during an interview with People magazine. According to them, Markle didn’t really change and was still the same sweet and accommodating person they know.

Like Markle, Princess Diana previously shocked the royal family when she gave secret interviews wherein she dished about her troubled marriage with Prince Charles. She revealed that her marriage with the Prince of Wales didn’t work because “there were three of us in this marriage,” referencing Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles’ illicit affair.

Queen Mother was reportedly furious when she learned about the interview. For her, “it’s always a mistake to talk about your marriage” outside the family. Queen Elizabeth II’s mother detested Princess Diana for making this move. She couldn’t comprehend the need for the People’s Princess to disclose her rocky marriage to a biographer.
