Meghan Markle’s interest in the ongoing royal tour has tripled due to a poignant reason.

Kate Williams, a royal historian, told Channel 5 News, that the Duchess of Sussex’s interest grew after her pregnancy was announced by Kensington Palace last week.

“There was always going to be a huge amount of interest, they are incredibly popular. Their big first royal engagement since the wedding, Meghan’s big first royal engagement. But, the minute the royal baby was announced, that increased the excitement and I saw that it was the front cover of quite a lot of the Australian newspapers. I do think it has now tripled the interest and there is interest worldwide as well,” she said (via Express).

Williams also praised Markle and Prince Harry for their ability to win people over.

“It is an arduous thing a royal tour. I do follow them and I understand yesterday Meghan couldn’t sleep, she has jet lag, she’s pregnant, it’s an exhausting schedule, she said she was up at 4:30 a.m. doing yoga because she couldn’t sleep. It’s tough work and it is really impressive they are doing such a great job of keeping, going, and smiling, and really being great ambassadors for this country,” she said.

On Monday, Kensington Palace confirmed that Markle is pregnant with her first child with Prince Harry. Prior to the announcement, royal fans were already speculating on the “Suits” alum’s pregnancy. After all, they couldn’t help but notice the changes in Markle’s fashion.

When she attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Oct. 12, Markle wore an oversized navy-blue coat even while she was inside St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. This, once again, sparked speculations that she was trying to hide her growing baby bump.

“Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to announce the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in spring 2019,” the statement from the palace read.

Prince Harry, who is as equally excited as Markle, referenced his unborn child at the Invictus Games on Saturday.

“I have been so proud to be able to introduce my wife to you and we have been so happy to be able to celebrate the personal joy of our newest addition with you all,” he said (via E! News).
