Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., recently said that the Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with their dad is already beyond repair.

During his interview with the Mirror, Thomas said that the biggest problem regarding Markle’s relationship with their dad is that they no longer trust each other.

“The relationship is broken beyond repair and it’s so sad to see. Both of them have to shoulder the responsibility of how a once very loving father-daughter relationship is now so bad it is irretrievable,” he said.

Prior to dating Prince Harry, Markle has always maintained a close relationship with her father. In fact, the “Suits” alum has also written about the 74-year-old former lighting director on her lifestyle blog The Tig.

“I think of so many moments with my dad. Our club sandwich and fruit smoothie tradition post my tap & ballet class – classes, which by the way, he religiously took me to on Saturday mornings after working 75+ hours a week as a lighting director,” she wrote.

In her piece, Markle went on to praise her dad for his hard work and for making sure that she could grow up having so much of what he didn’t have. Thomas Markle Sr. was the one that put gas in his daughter’s car. He also taught Markle to write thank you notes, and he believed in Markle’s dream of becoming an actress even before she believed it herself.

However, all of these wonderful memories seem to have already been forgotten. Markle and Thomas Sr. have not spoken to each other in over a year. Markle recently wrote a letter to her dad, but Thomas Sr. was not very pleased with its contents.

While speaking with Daily Mail, Thomas Sr. said that he thinks Prince Harry was the one who influenced Markle with what was written in the letter. After all, the former actress didn’t seem too apologetic to her dad in the notes because she was merely blaming him for why their relationship fell apart.
