The White House released the official portrait of first lady Melania Trump, April 3, 2017. White House

First lady Melina Trump got her official White House portrait Monday, her press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, tweeted. Later the official FLOTUS Twitter account released the photo too.

The photo-shoot took place at the West Sitting Hall of the White House private residence, BBC reported. Regine Mahaux, the photographer, has been popular for her portraits of celebrities and has also shot with Melania in the past for some glamorous editorial images.

The first lady decided to settle for a black tuxedo-style jacket, with a sequined neckerchief and is seen flaunting her 25-carat engagement ring in the photo. Melania went for a confident yet traditional look compared to Michelle Obama's official portrait. The former first lady raised a few eyebrows when she was seen wearing a sleeveless dress in the photograph. While some called it too casual, some thought it was way off-season. Michelle's first official portrait was shot at the White House Blue Room.

"I am honored to serve in the role of first lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years," Melania said after the portrait was released.

The first lady has not made too many public appearances since her husband President Donald Trump took over the Oval office. She has been staying with their 10-year-old son Barron in New York, but is expected to move to the White House at the end of his school's term.

The White House also published a bio along with the photograph on its official page. According to her official bio, Melania Trump "has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, British GQ, Ocean Drive, Avenue, In Style, and New York Magazine. Her major layouts include the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Allure, Vogue, Self, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Elle."

Melania has been notably more popular than her husband, which is not a rare phenomenon with first ladies. A recent CNN/ORC poll found 52 percent of Americans have a positive opinion of her.
