  • Reese Witherspoon gave an update on "The Morning Show" Season 3 production

Karen Pittman teased a few interesting details about the highly anticipated third season of the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show."

The 46-year-old Mississippi-born actress revealed the setting of the upcoming season, saying the show will pick up where they left off in Season 2 when Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) was seen live-streaming the details of testing positive for COVID and having a new potential scandal underway.

"Well, we start after the pandemic," Pitman said in an exclusive interview with E! News during the HCA TV Awards last Sunday, "I think I can safely tease that."

For Season 3, viewers can anticipate a new addition to the star-studded cast. It's none other than "Mad Men" alum Jon Hamm, who will be playing Paul Marks, a character described by the streaming platform as "a corporate titan who sets his sights on UBA, pulling Cory, Alex, and Bradley into his powerful orbit."

"He is [an] extraordinary actor," Pittman said when asked about her co-star.

She continued, "I'm interested in what he's going to be bringing to the story. I don't yet know what they have in store for Jon. I loved him in 'Mad Men.' I loved him in all of the work he has ever done. Very exciting to have some new characters, and there's going to be a lot more in store. A lot more interesting people are going to be coming on."

However, the "The Morning Show" star, who plays the station manager and executive producer Mia of the titular show in the series, could only reveal as much since her lips remained sealed about more details.

"I don't want to spoil it for anybody," she said. "I want everyone to be super excited and get on the twists and turns."

Season 2 ended with a rollercoaster finale and a bit off a cliffhanger. Aside from the COVID outbreak, there's also a new love triangle formed between Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies), Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), and Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup). The characters would also be seen recovering from the death of Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell).

"The Morning Show" garnered immense attention from viewers not only for its dark satirical plot, but because of its star-studded cast, headlined by Witherspoon and Aniston.

The series also reached promising ratings, including a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, an 8.3/10 score on IMDB, and a 4/5 score from Common Sense Media.

Meanwhile, Season 3 production has seemingly started since the 46-year-old "Legally Blonde" alum, Witherspoon, gave a quick update via Twitter on Thursday, saying she's back on the set of "The Morning Show."

"We're back! @TheMorningShow Season 3! @hellosunshine @AppleTVPlus1," Witherspoon wrote in the caption for a photo of her standing in front of the iconic TV station of the show.

"The Morning Show" Season 3 is expected to return on the streaming platform by 2023.
