Multiple U.S. senators have tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated. Sens. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., Angus King, I-Maine, and Roger Wicker, R-Miss., are all experiencing “breakthrough” cases.

Hickenlooper wrote “I feel good but will isolate per docs instructions. I’m grateful for the vaccine for limiting my symptoms. If you haven’t gotten your shot get it today, and booster when it’s available too!”

“Despite taking precautions and receiving the vaccine, this morning I have tested positive for COVID-19!” King tweeted. King says he does not feel great but he does feel better than he would have if he were not vaccinated.

After Wicker tested positive his office released a statement saying he has mild symptoms, and that he is “fully vaccinated and in good health.” The Senator is self-quarantining and says he has notified everyone he has come in contact with.

All three senators range between the ages of 69 and 77 and are not the only ones in the upper chamber to receive a positive COVID test. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., announced he tested positive earlier this month despite being vaccinated.

Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Rand Paul, R-Ky., Mike Lee, R-Utah., Thom Tillis, R-N.C., Bill Cassidy, R- La., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa., have all recovered after testing positive for the virus.

According to GovTrack, more than 70 House and Senate members have tested positive for the virus. Rep. Ron Wright, R-Texas, died in February after testing positive a month earlier, making him the first congressional member to lose their life to the virus.
