Actress Natalie Wood is finally getting some sort of rest after her mysterious 1981 demise. The Los Angeles County Coroner has changed the cause of death on Wood's certificate from accident to undetermined.

TMZ reports that the changes to Wood's death certificate were filed last month, but her relatives were informed today of the change. Family members told TMZ that authorities told them the change was made in part because some of the bruises on Wood's body were inconsistent with death by accident.

Although Natalie Wood's death was definitely caused from drowning, police can't prove that it was due to foul play. It is still unclear or undetermined how Wood ended up in the water.

Natalie Wood's death is a tragic story. In 1981, at 43-years-old, Wood went out on a Yacht on Thanksgiving weekend with her husband Robert Wagner, fellow actor Christopher Walken and Dennis Davern, the yacht's captain. The Inquisitr reports that the party was sailing from Santa Catalina Island when tragedy struck. The actress mysteriously ended up in the water, and drowned.

Wood's death case was reopened in 2011 after Davern informed police of a fight between Wagner and Wood just before she went missing. Police denied that Wagner or Walken were suspects when they reopened the case.

Natalie Wood also made headlines this past May, when her 38-year-old daughter, Courtney Wagner, was arrested for cocaine and heroin after gunfire at her Malibu home.
