Oreo Chocolate Mousse

Not a huge fan of pudding? This thick, rich and creamy mousse is perfect for you. What's more, this 5-ingredient chocolate mousse will be ready in only five to six hours after you pop it in the refrigerator. It is very easy to preserve for days as well.

Keep in mind that it's best to have the mousse as a dessert after a full meal.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 ½ cups of heavy cream divided
  • 4 large eggs divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions:

  • Melt chocolate on low heat over a double boiler.
  • Remove chocolate from heat once it's melted. Allow it to settle and cool for a few minutes.
  • Whisk a cup of heavy cream and vanilla into the chocolate. Add egg yolks into the mixture one by one while continuously stirring it. Adding eggs one at a time helps prevent the eggs from cooking from the temperature of the chocolate.
  • Whisk heavy cream, sugar and egg whites with an electronic beater or stand mixer until the cream rises and small peaks are formed.
  • Whisk half of the whipped cream into the chocolate. Fold in the remaining whipped cream with a flat spatula until it's well combined.
  • Crush the Oreo cookies and press them into the serving dish
  • Use a piping bag to fill cups with the chocolate mousse
  • Refrigerate the mousse for five to six hours. Don't forget to garnish your dessert with crushed Oreos.
