One of “Resident Evil's” iconic villains is now a playable characters in the latest update of “Resident Evil: Resistance.”

Nemesis was first introduced as the behemoth and main antagonist in the 1993 cult classic game, “Resident Evil: Nemesis.” The monster is also called the Nemesis T-Type, the Pursuer or the Chaser mainly because it stalks Jill Valentine all over Raccoon City.

Fast forward to “Resident Evil: Resistance,” gamers can now control Nemesis for the first time in the history of the franchise. It's turning the tables for most, but it's more of an innovative milestone for Capcom.

“One of the defining aspects of Resident Evil 3 is, without a doubt, the hulking stalker that trails Jill throughout the game. Nemesis is not only one of the most memorable enemies from Resident Evil history, but perhaps one of the most recognizable monsters in all of video game history,” said Capcom USA associate manager for social media and community Kellen Haney in a statement.

The new update also added Russian Special Forces member Nichoali Ginovaef as a playable character in the game's Mastermind mode. For those that don't know, “Resident Evil: Resistance” was created as a spin-off where four Survivors go up against a Mastermind. The latter can lay down traps and monsters to hunt the Survivors. Playing as Nicholai will enable players to Control Nemesis, notwithstanding using a bevy of camera-mounted firearms and trackers to keep the protagonists at bay.

PlayStation's Tim Turi also talked with the dev team behind “Resident Evil 3” and “Resident Evil: Resistance” and talked about certain aspects leading to the update. The group tackled on Nemesis' design and the infamous “STARS” line.

“At the end of the day, part of Nemesis' fear factor is its relentless pursuit in eliminating all S.T.A.R.S. Members, so we left the S.T.A.R.S. phase in there as a means of conveying that to the player,” the team said.

They also shed light on how to defeat Nemesis Type 1 and Type 2, saying that players need to shift from running fighting if they want to kill the monster. As for Nicholai as a Mastermind, the dev team warned players to look out for his speed and multiple attacks.

“Don't wander off alone, communicate with each other and stay alert and agile. Nicholai's firearms can deal a considerable amount of damage, making him very hard to defend against when alone and without support.

“When players see cameras protected by an Electromagnetic field, the best strategy would be to retreat or find cover!” pointed the staff.
