  • "Resident Evil: Resistance" is not a canonical new story, says producer Peter Fabiano
  • The 4vs1 multiplayer will still have familiar characters, including Mastermind
  • A reliable leaker said two new "Silent Hill" games are in the works
  • One is a "soft reboot" and the other is a episodic game

Despite the fact that “Resident Evil: Resistance” is included in the much-talked “Resident Evil 3” remake, the game’s producer openly said that the multiplayer is not a “canonical new story” that fits into the franchise’s fabled timeline.

Through Games Radar, Peter Fabiano told Official PlayStation Magazine that “Resident Evil: Resistance” has scenarios “that make it impossible” for it to be included in the “Resident Evil” timeline even though the game is set in Raccoon City.

However, Fabiano quipped that players will have a “fun online experience” playing “Resistance,” and that they should see some familiar faces including the dreaded Mastermind.

IGN on the other hand also echoed the game’s “thematic tie of characters trying to escape.” This fact alone is enough for Capcom to bundle “Resistance” with the upcoming “Resident Evil 3” remake.

“You’ll remember that the Japanese subtitle for RE3 was Last Escape. Both of these titles have characters that are trying to escape somewhere or something, so thematically it made sense,” Fabiano told the Magazine, plus and underlying notion of making an online game that’s set in the RE universe.

“Resident Evil 3” was “about 90%” complete as of early January, said IGN, and Capcom pointed that the game, alongside “Resistance” won’t be delayed.

It is scheduled to be released on April 13 on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Speaking of survival horror, resident leaker Aesthetic Gamer said that there are two upcoming “Silent Hill” games in development: one is a “soft reboot” and the other is an episodic game akin to TellTale games or Until Dawn.

They don’t have enough information about the games yet, but Aesthetic Gamer is confident that they “exist,” said IGN.
