“Once Upon a Time” fans better get ready to welcome a fierce new female to the Season 5 cast – Merida (Amy Manson)! The addition of the “Brave” fairytale character was announced early this summer, but ABC viewers received a small teaser about her arrival from show co-creator Adam Horowitz.

Horowitz took to Twitter on Wednesday to reveal yet another episode title for the upcoming fifth season. According to the showrunner, episode 6 is called “The Bear and The Bow.” Although plot details about the installment have not been released, those that have watched Disney/ Pixar’s “Brave” could easily assume that the episode will incorporate the new character.

Disney/ Pixar’s “Brave” is about a Scottish princess named Merida who excels in archery – hence the connection to “bow” in the headline. But unfortunately for Merida, her mother does not approve of her hobby. She wants her daughter to act like a princess and get married, something that Merida is not interested in. One day Merida meets a witch who says she can help change her mother. And the spell from the witch does change her mother … into a bear.

“Once Upon a Time” is known to deviate from the original fairytales, so it’s possible that the series could switch up Merida’s origin story. However, co-creator Edward Kitsis says fans can still expect the same “spitfire” character from the movie.

“If she’s not your favorite new character this year, I won’t know what to say,” he dished to Entertainment Weekly in August. “She’s a lot of fun.”

Meanwhile, actress Amy Manson has been teasing fans with how much fun she’s been having on set. On Tuesday she shared a behind-the-scenes photo of stunt training on her Instagram page. She also retweeted an archery practice photo posted by co-star Elliot Knight, who is joining Season 5 of “Once Upon a Time” as the mysterious Merlin.

“Once Upon a Time” Season 5 premieres on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 a.m. EDT. What do you think about the Merida teasers? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
