Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey) was an important character in “Ozark” Season 3 and made a lasting impact on the show. In a recent interview, Pelphrey talked about playing the role and explained some of the actions of his character.

The following article contains spoilers of “Ozark” Season 3.

When Pelphery first got the job to play Ben, he had a good idea about what was expected from his character and where his story was headed. However, he told Pop Culture that he only understood the full impact of his character on the show after reading the scripts. By the time the show reached episode 8 and 9, the actor knew that the events would “really change things” for the other characters.

Ben was seen as more of a problem for the Byrde family and their money-laundering operation. But, from Ben’s point of view he was right to voice his concerns, even though they got him into trouble later on in the show. Pelphery pointed out that even though his character had a bipolar disorder, he was “just calling out the truth” because of “his sense of right and wrong.”

In “Ozark” Season 3, Ben was the only character who told his sister that her illegal activities are not only wrong, but they are also dangerous. Pelphery’s portrayal of the character won him praise from the fans, but he credits the writers for crafting a great story around his character.

Lead cast member Jason Bateman, who plays the role of Marty Byrde, was also one of the directors of the show. He told Collider that the idea of a director bringing out the best performance from an actor isn’t exactly accurate. He said that his job while guiding actors for a particular scene is to identify the skill of the actors, understand how they are thinking about a particular scene, and help them the best he can.

The work of all the cast and crew members was praised by the fans and Julia Garner also won an Emmy for her portrayal of Ruth Langmore. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, Garner said that the most difficult scene for her to film was the one where she went head to head with Laura Linney, who plays Wendy.

“Ozark” Season 3 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
