In the wake of the recent controversial death of George Floyd, people are reportedly sending nudes in exchange for donation receipts.

On May 25, an African-American man named George Floyd died in Powderhorn, a neighborhood just south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota after Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis officer, pinned him to the ground, with his knee on the right side of Floyd’s neck.

The incident, which was recorded and disseminated on social media, immediately sparked uproar and several protests all over America. People across the globe began raising funds for Floyd’s official memorial as well as Minnesota’s community organizers who have been put in custody for protesting.

One group joining the cause are sex workers who are willingly offering nude photos and OnlyFans access — a subscription content service popular in the adult entertainment industry — in place of donations, Insider reported.

Food writer and essayist Rax King announced to her 30,000 social media followers that she would readily send nude photos to those able to donate more than $50 to a Minnesota community fundraiser.

And within just five hours after the announcement, King, along with her friend Sabrina (@sadsleepygirl23), raised over $27,000 for several initiatives. These include Minnesota Freedom Fund, an organization raising money to bail out jailed protesters; Black Visions Collective, which is dedicated to black and collective liberation; and Reclaim the Block, which is aimed to safeguard Minneapolis real investments in community safety.

Like King, a heap of other people using the same approach have been raising money for initiatives that support black communities while helping combat police brutality.

For instance, a 33-year-old sex worker with the handle Spookyfatbrat revealed to Insider how she raised funds for black movements via her large social media following.

"As a collective, we can not just sit back and RT hashtags we have to be active about fighting white supremacy and police brutality," Spookyfatbrat said. "We have to put our money where our mouths are and show support and solidarity."

She also shared that organizers who get arrested for protesting in Minneapolis will be accorded with her amassed donation money, which is deemed fitting at a time of risky and dangerous conditions in prisons due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Per Insider, Ontario-based sex worker C0ncreteveins, who opts to be called using she/they pronouns, correspondingly started giving out nudes to people who can donate $10 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

Goddess Hunter, a New York-based professional adult entertainment worker who specializes in findom or “financial domination,” also belongs to the growing pool of the naked philanthropy approach.

"If people send me money, they can send someone else money. Financial domination in sex work can work to benefit others as well," they said.

Though the “nudes-for-donations” method seems unorthodox compared to the usual pledges, the initiative isn’t entirely a novel feat. Sex workers have long used this kind of approach to raise money for other social issues and world catastrophes.

So far, the most notable among them is Kaylen Ward, popularly known to some as “the Naked Philanthropist.” In January, Ward reportedly garnered a whopping $700,000, with proceeds directed straight to Australian wildfire efforts.
