Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles faced challenges when they decided to settle down due to their opposing personalities.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are always a picture of true love. The public wasn’t supportive of their romance until they were allowed to get married in 2005, years after Princess Diana died.

When the couple finally tied the knot, their relationship was tested due to their different characters traits especially when it comes to order and cleanliness. According to royal author Penny Junor in her book “The Duchess: The Untold Story,” adjusting life under one roof was “difficult” for Prince Charles and Camilla.

“Charles is obsessive about order and tidiness. Camilla has always been untidy,” Junor wrote.

“He has never had to pick up so much as a sock for himself; she has been chief cook and bottle-washer for a family of four.“

They also have different work ethics and ways of handling the people around them.

“He has always has a punishing work ethic; she was new to the concept and found it hard to keep up,” Junor continued.

Prince Charles reportedly likes people around him and was a wonderful host. On the other hand, Camilla can endure solitude and loves her own company. Often times, she will announce that she’s off to bed.

Prince Charles can be very down in the dumps while Camilla is almost always buoyant. The heir apparent has a terrible temper too and can be moody and difficult. On the other hand, Camilla is very cheerful and easy going.

Despite the issues, their differences prove to be an advantage too. Prince Charles is reportedly a “bad judge of character.” The future king finds it difficult to weed out the wrong people in his life because when someone is nice to him, he automatically thinks that the person is wonderful.

Camilla helps Prince Charles keep his circle intact by keeping him away from the wrong people. The Duchess of Cornwall is “dismissive” and often times “she’s quite right.”

On the other hand, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage was worse. It came to a point when Prince William and Prince Harry yelled “I hate you” to their dad for always making Princess Diana cry.
