Prince Charles recently surprised a small group of reporters during his trip to Wales.

While speaking on ITV’s “Royal Rota,” royal correspondent Chris Ship shared his encounter with the future King when he celebrated his 50th anniversary as the Prince of Wales last week.

“We were there in that wood stepping over some horse excrement on the floor, as he did in his suit, in a forest in south Wales. We said to him, ‘Oh, this is a beautiful spot to spend your 50th anniversary being the Prince of Wales,’” he said.

Ship said that what Prince Charles said afterward surprised him. The heir to the throne said that horse logging is great because you extract the horse from the forest with minimum environmental impact.

Royal author Eve Pollard noted the fact that Prince Charles’ biggest advocacy is really the environment. This is why he connected it to the reporters’ comment that was totally unrelated.

“It’s what he cares about and what he knows about, that’s what’s interesting,” Pollard. Ship added that this is what makes him happy and one of the horse loggers said that this where the future King is happy.

Royal producer Lizzie Robinson said that Prince Charles also visited the Prince Trust’s call center during his trip to Wales, which was again very him because it’s always all about his charity and causes.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Prince Charles made a surprising remark. Several years ago, he surprised his ex-wife, Princess Diana, with a heartbreaking comment after Prince Harry was born.

Upon seeing that the Duke of Sussex has red hair and is a boy, Prince Charles couldn’t contain his surprise. His remark made Princess Diana closed off.

And during another occasion, Prince Charles said that the trouble with his younger brother, Prince Andrew, is the fact that he wants to be like him. Royal expert Richard Kay said that the Duke of York was a spare and Prince Charles was the heir.
