Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are looking at quite a few changes after the recent announcement that they are stepping away from their roles as senior members of the British royal family. Following the news, a report suggested that Queen Elizabeth II "triggered" the royals to make the decision.

After sharing the news on their Sussex Royal Instagram account, many fans wondered what that would mean for the couple moving forward.

Now, a new report has suggested that the Duke of Sussex may unexpectedly lose out on a "key role" after the surprise announcement.

According to the Mirror, Harry's position as the head of the Royal Marines is now in jeopardy after the announcement that he intends to part ways with the royals. As stated by Royal Navy sources, his future in the role is now "in doubt." Previously, he had been promoted to Captain General, which some had said was a "brilliant move" due to the fact that they believed it could inspire other young men and women to join the Marines.

However, the Duke will be still entitled to a pension of approximately £10,000 ($13,061.68) from the Army when he becomes a retired officer after ten years, which was boosted by his time as an Apache helicopter pilot.

Aside from having to give up that role, some royal fans have speculated that stepping away from the family could result in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also having to "renounce their royal titles."

This development follows Meghan and Harry's return from their six-week stay in Canada. During that time, the Duke and Duchess shared a specific focus that they have for 2020. Additionally, it was also reported that during that trip the Duke made a certain suggestion that "horrified" the Duchess.
