The coronavirus pandemic has caused members of the royal family to cancel all of their public appearances, which means Queen Elizabeth has been self-isolating like millions of others around the world.

However, she is reportedly grateful that Prince Philip has been by her side throughout the lockdown.

Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, told Hello! magazine that the couple has been enjoying their time together, despite the circumstances. Littler revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh has “always had the ability to make [Her Majesty] laugh.”

The editor revealed that Prince Philip’s unique perspective has benefited his relationship with Queen Elizabeth. “I think a lot of the strength in the relationship comes from his independent mind. He’s not your conventional lovey-dovey husband. He’s always been bracing and supportive to the Queen,” Little explained.

The commentator went on to claim that the Queen has always enjoyed her husband’s witty humor. “He is such an important ingredient in her success and happiness. He makes her laugh, he’s got a slightly naughty sense of humor, a sense of the ridiculous that keeps her amused,” he stated.

“She will value that companionship much more than if he were at the other end of a telephone,” he added.

Reports of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s relationship comes after royal biographer Andrew Morton suggested that the 94-year-old would have to abdicate the throne for her son, Prince Charles.

“It’s terribly sad, but I can’t see how the Queen can resume her usual job. The Covid-19 virus isn’t going away soon and will be with us for months, if not years,” Morton said.

“It would be far too risky for the Queen to start meeting people on a regular basis. She has always loved getting out and meeting people, but she can’t take the risk,” he added.
