Princess Diana’s last photo where she can be seen smiling before the car crash in Paris has resurfaced.

Photos of Princess Diana inside an elevator at the Ritz Hotel are shared on Instagram. In the snaps, the People’s Princess is smiling. The photos were taken just minutes before the car crash that killed her happened.

One fan commented that Princess Diana’s smile was “amazing.” Another said that Princess Diana’s “whole being was amazing.”

Meanwhile, many were saddened after seeing the photos. According to them the accident should have never happened. A different user said that Princess Diana “should still be with us.”

The car crash happened less than five minutes after Princess Diana left the hotel. The royal’s bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was the lone survivor from the accident. According to him, the last four minutes was vague to him since he suffered memory loss after the accident. He underwent a 10-hour surgery after the crash and couldn’t recall most of the things that happened.

However, he can still remember getting into the Mercedes in the Rue Cambon and the car driving off. He also remembered stopping at traffic lights and seeing a motorcycle on the right-hand side of the car, but his memory after that is a “total confusion.”

After the crash, he heard someone moaning and saying “Dodi.” He wasn’t sure who said it, but it was a female voice, so it was probably Princess Diana.

“A few snatches might come back to him but his memories are not at all reliable because even for him it is impossible to tell if these are genuine memories or reconstructions of events from information he might have had later, dreams or imagination,” Dr. Maurice Lipsedge, a psychiatrist, said, after confirming that Rees-Jones experienced memory loss as a result of the accident.

Meanwhile, according to Xavier Gourmelon, who was among the first responders, he thought that Princess Diana would survive the accident. Based on his recollection, there was no blood on Princess Diana, only a slight surgery on the shoulder was needed.

When they were in the ambulance, Princess Diana was still alive and he expected her to live. He was very upset when he found out later that the Princess of Wales didn’t make it.
