Princess Diana made a shocking confession about her wedding with Prince Charles.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a fairytale-like royal wedding. Unfortunately, their marriage was far from it. According to the People’s Princess, when she was walking down the aisle and getting near to her prince, she was looking for someone else.

“As I walked up the aisle I was looking for her,” Princess Diana said in a heartbreaking confession.

Princess Diana was referring to Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Charles’ then-mistress and the heir’s current wife. In archived footage taken during Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding, the bride can be seen scanning the huge building, desperately searching for someone in the onlooking crowd.

According to Andrew Morton, Princess Diana’s biographer, she was hopeful that Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair was over. Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom told him for her biography.

“She said she had hope brimming in her heart and as she walked down the aisle as she looked at Camilla Parker Bowles – who she knew was Prince Charles’ mistress,” Morton recalled.

“She hoped the relationship was over, sadly it wasn’t.”

According to Emma Costello, Camilla’s attendance at Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding made sense because her then-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, had a significant role in the wedding procession. Andrew was the commanding officer of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. He was appointed to oversee the ceremonial escort that accompanied the groom and bride’s carriage ride through London.

Prince Charles and Camilla dated before they married their first spouses. However, the royal family didn’t approve of Camilla as she was deemed to be a woman with experience. The members of the Firm encouraged the heir to marry Princess Diana because she was the perfect “virginal” bride fit for a king.

According to royal fashion historian James Sherwood, Princess Diana appeared like a “sacrificial lamb“ in her huge wedding dress designed by Emanuel. Princess Diana and Prince Charles honeymoon was “unhappy” and the People’s Princess hated it because the heir brought his books and painting materials along the trip.
