The members of the royal family have a number of options when it comes to transportation. However, sometimes they don’t mind using public transport. Here are the different times the Queen, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge traveled using the train.

Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip traveled on a Cambridgeshire Guided Bus during a visit to the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in 2013. The monarch and Duke of Edinburgh made the most of their visit by riding a single decker bus. However, they were 15 minutes late.

Her Majesty also uses the public train for her annual trip to Scotland during the holiday season. In December, the monarch was photographed arriving at King’s Lynn Station after taking a public train from London to Sandringham.

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly walked alongside her security and briefly mingled with the other passengers before she took her first-class seat.

Kate Middleton

In 2013, Middleton rode alongside Barbara Windsor on a 1960s Routemaster bus as they met the staff and volunteer from The Royal British Legions London Polly Day Appeal. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge rode the double-decker bus from Kensington Palace to a London tube station.

Middleton was also photographed riding a train. One time, she was snapped at a train station. In another occasion, she was with Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2012, the Queen and Duchess of Cambridge rode a train to Leicester to watch a fashion show at De Montfort University in Leicester, England. It was their first joint engagement together. It took seven years for the two royals to step out again for another joint engagement.

Prince Charles and Camilla

In 2013, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited the Wrightbus factory in Ballymena. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles boarded a bus as part of their tour, the BBC reported.

The future king and duchess also experienced how it was riding a tube. In the photo shown below, the royals were making themselves comfortable in a crowded train.
