There is no truth to the rumors that actress Angelina Jolie got secretly married to an unnamed British billionaire in the midst of getting a divorce from her estranged husband Brad Pitt. Gossip Cop rubbished the rumors conjured up by an unreliable tabloid recently.

The tabloid in question was New Idea, which published an article titled, “Angelina Jolie set to wed British billionaire,” Tuesday, which elaborated on an already false narrative perpetuated by another equally unreliable outlet, In Touch magazine, last year.

Taking the story of Jolie’s mysterious newfound love a step forward, the New Idea article claimed “in a romantic bid to show their commitment to each other,” Jolie and her secret billionaire lover performed a “wedding ceremony” which took place “at her new man’s LA mansion, in a garden surrounded by white flowers – Ange’s favorite.”

“Ange’s new man has been desperate to prove his love and devotion to her and so suggested they have a ‘wedding ceremony’ last weekend,” a so-called anonymous source told New Idea.

“She was very cagey Hollywood actress has cause on the details but said it was a beautiful day, where they affirmed their love for one another in front of a celebrant and declared their commitment to each other,” added the source.

The article, quoting the source, also mentioned all of Jolie’s children attended the ceremony and “while it was a little hard for them to understand with the split from Brad still being so raw, Maddox and Pax especially were excited to see their mum so happy again.”

In an attempt to sound legitimate and be wary of the fact that it was not suggesting Jolie was committing polygamy, the publication made it clear the wedding ceremony did not mean she was legally married to the billionaire.

“Obviously Ange can’t remarry yet until the divorce is finalized, so last weekend’s nuptials was a commitment ceremony as much as anything,” the insider said. “But Ange still wore white and carried a bouquet down the cobbled garden aisle – in her eyes, it definitely felt like they were saying ‘I do’ for real.”

To explain why Jolie had chosen to fall for a billionaire, the publication painted her as a gold-digger who was eager to get out of her financial troubles the divorce with Pitt has allegedly left her in, citing her previous marriages to “English actor Jonny Lee Miller and Hollywood rebel Billy Bob Thornton” to be evidence enough.

“She knows having a wealthy man with deep pockets is only a good thing in her legal battles,” the source said. “Having a stable father figure in the children’s lives is going to help her get custody, and he is only too willing to help with Ange’s hefty legal bills. This is a win-win for Ange.”

One of biggest tells of the false narrative was that the tabloid revealed nothing about the so-called secret British billionaire, since it is hard to believe the paparazzi would not have any pictures or information about a man if the “Maleficent” actress had indeed started dating again, let alone get married.

Besides, People magazine already pointed out a few months ago Jolie was “absolutely not seeing anyone and will not be” a fact that E! News also confirmed later, saying she was “very focused on her kids.”

All of these prove the story of Jolie’s marriage to the billionaire was wholly fabricated.
