Prince Charles will take over the throne after Queen Elizabeth II’s passes away. But royal fans recently shared their thoughts on who among the Queen and Prince Philip’s four children do they want to lead the monarchy if the choice is up to them.

On the online forum site Quora, majority of the royal fans said that they would still want to see Prince Charles become the next king because he has been waiting so long for the position.

Rhys Hoffman, an author, and social advocate said that if she could choose one among the Queen and the Duke’s four children then she would go for Princess Royal or Princess Anne.

“Many people don’t realize quite how hard Princess Royal works. She is arguably the hardest working royal in the royal family… I almost wish she could be included in the line of succession as a sort of exception to the rule (due to her age) with a reminder that after Anne would come William,” Hoffman said.

Alec Cawley said that Prince Charles should be the next head of the monarchy even though it is totally illogical because this is the only way that it would work.

“If we start choosing the monarch then we become responsible for our choices. And we can say that we made a mistake in choosing whichever one we did… Which brings the whole concept into the arena of public debate,” he said.

Paul J. Dobbs also said that there is no way that Prince Charles wouldn’t and shouldn’t succeed Her Majesty. However, he is also convinced that the Prince of Wales’ role as King would be shortlived. One of the reasons could be Prince Charles’ age.

The dad of two will celebrate his 71st birthday in November. The Queen, who just turned 93, is showing some signs of slowing down. However, she might never abdicate. This means that she will be the head of the monarchy until the day she dies.
