Disney’s “Star Wars” Obi-Wan series remains untitled and relatively under wraps. As “The Rise of Skywalker” theatrical promotions ramp up alongside viral other “Star Wars” content, such as the “Jedi: Fallen Order” video game and yet another Disney Plus series, “The Mandalorian," interest and anticipation for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is at its highest.

To satiate those “Star Wars” cravings, check out everything that could potentially be expected from the still secretive series.

A True “Star Wars” Depiction

Following her directorial debut for “Star Wars” on Episode 3 of “The Mandalorian,” Deborah Chow sat down with The New York Times to discuss a myriad of topics, including Baby Yoda, Werner Herzog, and Obi-Wan. Chow even discussed what she learned about working within the universe as a whole.

“One of the biggest benefits is that I just spent the last year in the “Star Wars” universe and I had great mentors, coming in under Jon [Favreua] and Dave [Filoni],” she said. “Absorbing that, I feel, was the best training I could have had to take on the next one.”

Chow added: “And there’s so much knowledge-every prop, every costume is important. Every detail really matters.”

This so-called “next one” where every detail would play an important role would be Disney’s Obi-Wan series, for which Chow will be directing alongside Hossein Amini penning the script and Ewan McGregor donning the Jedi robes.

A Vast Universe To Explore

The Disney+ Obi-Wan TV show was at first intended to be a film. In describing the new show while remaining as tight-lipped as possible, writer Amini explained to Discussing Film why Obi-Wan turned into a Disney Plus original series:

“There is so much going on between Episodes 3 and 4 that hasn’t been explored. The idea of being able to get into a character journey plus the politics and plus all the vastness of the empire and what’s going on is exciting just because it feels like a proper period of history and sometimes that is hard to do in two hours,” he said.

He also added that the story “spans the period between episodes 3 and 4” and will explore Obi-Wan’s adjustment to a fallen Jedi Order and the loss of countless friends.

Fusing Two Portrayals

Having known he was coming back as Obi-Wan Kenobi for over a year, McGregor has had a long time to prepare for his forthcoming role. In an interview with Men’s Journal, he underscored how it’s also not solely his character.

“I want to get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that,” he said.

While maintaining his own portrayal, McGregor will also attempt to honor the legendary actor who first showed the world who Old Ben really was. With an entire TV series in the works for Obi-Wan Kenobi, there is potentially years' worth of stories to divulge in and likewise much to be anticipated.

The "Star Wars" Obi-Wan series is set to begin filming in 2020.
