Stephen Colbert looked ecstatic while appearing on the latest episode of “The Late Show” after it was declared that Joe Biden would be the 46th President of the United States. The talk show host celebrated Biden’s victory by pouring champagne and saying that America is “great again.”

Colbert started the show by congratulating the everyone on Biden’s victory, and he had a huge smile on his face while doing so. The TV personality was so elated that he welcomed the viewers by dancing and firing a T-shirt cannon at his crew.

“Finally, after four years Americans can exhale. Unless you are near other people then please don’t because of the pandemic,” Colbert joked.

The host also shared some clips of people celebrating Biden’s victory in places like Miami, Times Square, San Diego, and Atlanta, saying that it is never a “good sign” if people celebrate your loss with such joyous dancing.

“It is never a good sign when the majority of Americans react to you losing your job the way they did to us getting Bin Laden . It feels like America is — what's the word — great again,” Colbert said.

Later in his monologue, Colbert revealed that he “just started crying with relief” while sitting on his porch with his wife Evie and hoped for a “nicer” era after hearing the news.

“Evie said, 'You never have to talk about him again.' And then I cried with joy . When he leaves, you know what I'm looking forward to? Sleep. But also the possibility that for the first time in four years, we will be able to shift our collective focus away from him, onto anything else, maybe each other,” the host said.

He also congratulated Kamala Harris for making history. Harris is the first female, first Black female, and the first person of Asian descent to become the vice president of the United States.

Colbert then continued to make fun of incumbent president Donald Trump and called him a “president-reject.” He also explained how Trump’s presidency changed him as a host.

“One of the things that I've found about this job is that I tend to reflect back the national tone, and that tone comes from the top. The president's only emotions are 'I'm angry,' 'Look at me,' and 'I'm angry you're not looking at me.' And because he was the only thing we were focused on for the last four years, and this was entirely my responsibility, I've done harsher jokes than I've ever done in my entire life,” Colbert said.

The nine-time Emmy winner concluded his monologue by saying that people voted for Biden in the election and he is the winner even if Trump refuses to believe it.

“The president would like you to believe that we will never know who won the election. But we do know, we know it’s Joe and come January 20th the president will know it too,” Colbert said.
