Eph and Zach
Eph (Corey Stoll, back right) will have to make a difficult decision regarding his son Zach (Max Charles, middle) and the people of New York City in episode 12 of "The Strain" Season 2. FX/Michael Gibson

The Occido Lumen is up for grabs, as Eph (Corey Stoll) and company once again survived another attack on one of their own. With only two episodes in Season 2, expect the battle against the Master to really heat up on FX’s “The Strain” episode 12, titled “Fallen Light.”

The synopsis for episode 12 reveals Eph will be forced to make tough decisions dealing with people he cares about. He will have to make a choice between his son Zach's (Max Charles) safety or the safety of New York City, while his relationship with Nora (Mia Maestro) reaches a breaking point. Episode 11 hinted at this when Eph and Nora exchanged a look in the car towards the end of the installment. After Fet (Kevin Durand) risked everything to save Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) because he loves her, Nora looked at Eph with a stare that says, "I don't think you would have done this for me." Will he choose to be with Nora or will her let her go and end their on-again, off-again relationship?

Meanwhile, after getting the Guptas to safety, the show's new dynamic duo of Gus (Miguel Gomez) and Angel (Joaquín Cosio) will get to work recruiting more dayhunters along with Mr. Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones). Mr. Quinlan hasn't been seen in a couple of weeks, so it will be nice to see him return and also to discover what their plan is for taking down the Master.

The promo video shows that weeks after failing in Washington, D.C., Eph will try to come up with a new plan to get his bio-weapon out to the masses to stop the strigoi once and for all. Eichorst (Richard Sammel) missed out on having Dutch as a human snack after Fet, Eph, and Nora were able to save her, but it looks like he and the Master have something else up their sleeves. In the promo, he's shown talking to Eldritch Palmer (Jonathan Hyde), saying, "victory is within our grasp."

Setrakian will also have to find a new way to get his hands on the Occido Lumen. Rudyard Fonescu (David Schall) took the Lumen to Alonso Creem (Jamie Hector) on the wishes of Cardinal McNamara (Tom Kemp). However, in episode 5, Setrakian (David Bradley) made a deal with Creem to find the book for him. Will Creem stick to his word or did the sacred book end up in the wrong hands?

“The Strain” Season 2, episode 12, "Fallen Light," will air on FX on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 10 p.m. EDT.
