"Stranger Things" star Noah Schnapp, who plays the character Will Byers in the Netflix series, came out as gay.

The 18-year-old actor shared a video Thursday on TikTok, revealing his sexuality alongside sharing how his friends and family responded to it.

In the video, the actor lip-synced to a popular audio trend, "You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious."

On the video, Schnapp wrote, "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know.'" The actor captioned the post, "I guess I'm more similar to [W]ill than I thought."

The caption was written in reference to his "Stranger Things" character, who came out as gay in Season 4 of the Netflix series. The video was shared by a Twitter user:

Twitter users went on to share their reactions, noting the similarities between his on-screen character and the actor in real life.

One of the users shared a clip from the series, where his character comes out as gay and burst into tears. "This scene has more meaning now, proud of noah schnapp," the user captioned the clip.

Another Twitter user noted that they don't hate or love the actor but are just "happy that a gay person is playing a canon gay character in one of the biggest tv shows in the world this a textbook definition of representation of queers in media."

On the work front, Schnapp has been a regular on "Stranger Things" since the show premiered in 2016. The actor started his career with "Bridge of Spies" in 2015 and went on to work in movies like "We Only Know So Much" and "Waiting for Anya."

The actor also shared the screen with Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen in the comedy movie, "Hubie Halloween," which came out in 2020.

Considering his upcoming work, Schnapp will be featured in a mystery thriller, "The Tutor" where he will play Jackson's character. The movie also stars Victoria Justice, Garrett Hedlund, Ekaterina Baker and Michael Aaron Milligan.
