What will happen when "Supernatural" returns with Season 10 on Monday, October 7? Cate Cameron/The CW

“Supernatural” might not show its Season 10 premiere until Oct. 7, but that hasn’t hindered the hit CW series from tickling fans with new season teasers. The show recently released a revealing synopsis of what fans should expect to occur in the tenth season of Eric Kripke’s fantasy series.

The summary for Season 10 starts off by giving “Supernatural” viewers a refresher on the demon-hunting quest Dean and Sam Winchester have pursued for the past 28 years. When “Supernatural” premiered on May 4, 2006, we found out what exactly sparked the brother’s interest in tracking down paranormal entities.

“Twenty-eight years ago, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force,” the press release for Season 10 explained. “Subsequently, their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) raised them to be soldiers. He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America – and he taught them how to kill it.”

The brothers have been rolling up their sleeves and taking down supernatural creatures since their father’s training – ironically with the help of a fallen angel named Castiel (Misha Collins) and the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard.)

But even with a seemingly invincible force, their efforts to end the supernatural madness was put on hold when an egomaniacal former scribe of God, Metatron (Curtis Armstrong), fatally stabbed Dean with a knife in the Season 9 finale. Fans watched as Sam held his dying brother in his arms, giving us one of the most tear-jerking scenes in “Supernatural” history. Before Dean faded away, he and his younger brother made amends and said one final goodbye.

But Sam will soon find out that his farewell was only temporary when he learns his brother is back from the dead – as a creature he is repulsed by. In the final moments of the Season 9 finale, fans witnessed Dean’s First Blade resurrection, which revealed he had transformed him into a demon.

Sam will begin Season 10 by frantically searching for his missing, black-eyed brother, who is reportedly “gone without a trace.”

“The road to recovering the wayward Dean takes Sam down dark paths, with consequences that will shake the boys to their core,” the summary continues. “Meanwhile, Castiel has to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Metatron’s campaign. With his grace failing and rogue angels still on the loose, Cas will face the ticking clock of his own mortality as all-new threats emerge to once again push all of our heroes to their limits.”
