Ming-Na Wen kicks plenty of butt as Agent Melinda May on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” but before she was the Cavalry, she was Mulan. The actress voiced Disney’s warrior princess in the 1998 animated film, and she confirmed that there’s an Easter egg alluding to her role in last week’s “S.H.I.E.L.D.” finale.

In the final episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 6, May ends up in a sword fight with this year’s big bad, Izel (Karolina Wydra). Before taking on the villain, she strikes a fighting stance with her hand pushed out and sword drawn back. Disney fans might recognize it as a pose Mulan pulled in the Disney flick. Wen confirmed that this was intended.

“I love coming up with Easter eggs and love it more when fans find them!” she wrote on Twitter.

The actress later gave a shout out to Tim Connolly, the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” fight coordinator, for helping make the scene look great.

More than 20 years after the animated film, Wen is still in the Disney family. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs on ABC and is produced by Marvel Television, both owned by the Mouse House. She is also set to be inducted as a Disney Legend at D23 Expo later this month.

Disney Legends are “honored for their remarkable contributions to the Disney legacy.” Wen is being recognized for her work as May and for voicing Mulan in not just the original movie but a number of other projects, including the “Kingdom Hearts” video games and “Ralph Breaks the Internet.” Her voiceovers for other Disney characters have also been featured in “Phineas and Ferb,” the animated “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, “Milo Murphy’s Law” and “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.” Wen just wrapped filming on the final season of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which will air on ABC next summer.

This year’s other Disney Legends inductees include Christina Aguilera, Wing Chao, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer and Hans Zimmer.
