A baby boy was found near the bodies of four adults found dead in an apartment complex at Edinburg, Texas, on Tuesday morning.

Police received a 911 call stating that a woman was found dead in the apartment. However, when officials arrived at the scene and began investigating, they found four bodies and a toddler inside the two-story brick apartment complex at 301 W. Kuhn Street.

According to Edinburg Police, the baby was found unharmed and the deaths of the four people were caused by possible gunshot injuries. The case was being investigated as a possible quadruple homicide or murder and suicide.

“It has been verified, that two of the females deceased were mother and daughter. One male adult appears to be the boyfriend of one of the females and the second male adult appears to be a home provider,” said Chief Cesar Torres, Edinburg Police Department.

Two neighbors, including one person who lived right next to the apartment, reportedly stated that they did not hear gunshots being fired or other disturbance of any kind the previous night or Tuesday morning.

Jesse Davila, who lives next to the apartment, said he saw a man dialing 911 and telling the operator about finding two women and a baby when he went to the apartment. He described that the man was just over five-feet tall, bald and wore glasses. He added that he was “chunky” and “brown.”

Davila was new to the neighborhood and had just moved in about a month ago, therefore, he did not know the neighbors very well. However, he described them to be normal and nice.

Torres described the incident as "horrific" and said investigators were working diligently to bring justice to the victims and provide closure to the families. He also mentioned that victim services and emotional support were being provided for the families of the victims.

Torres stated that the baby was being monitored and was in safe hands. The names of the victims were not revealed as the next of kin of some of the dead persons were not notified.

“This is a dark day for the city of Edinburg. Our city has lost four people due to a senseless act of violence,” he said. The case was under investigation.
